king county, washington. two people have been arrested. cbs 5 reporter sharon chin just talked to hercules police. sharon, they are saying the murder is part of a crime spree that began back in august. >>> reporter: perhaps. we're going to get to that in a second. hercules police detectives are heading to the seattle area tonight. they want to talk to the suspects to find out if there is any connection to the murder of susie ko. police found the car belonging to the 55-year-old retired teacher, who was discovered scabbed in her home friday night. in addition to the police search, her family launched a social network search for the car hoping to find her killer. detectives say they recovered her blue subaru after a chase in king county this morning. police say 24-year-old darnell washington and his wife tanya sped off after officers approached them in the parked car. when officers eventually boxed in the suspects in the subaru, the suspects allegedly kept ramming the police car until authorities arrested them at gunpoint. hercules police say right now the husband and wife are perso

disappearance of her daughter decades ago. cbs 5 reporter anne makovec has new clues in the case. >> reporter: her mother wrote on her facebook page last night, dear michaela, this could be in. she is talking about a bone fragment that was found. they tested it here at the hayward police department. the results were inconclusive. that bone now being sent to a lab in virginia. the results could take weeks. but there are some reasons to believe that that bone fragment could belong to michaela garecht. she was abducted in hayward in 1988. that bone was initially given to the family of another victim, joann hobson's remains found in a well in linden, a well where remains from victims of two serial killers dubbed the "speed freak" killers have been found. that was back in february. when hobson's family received the remains, they ordered some tests, suspicious after seeing investigators dig up the burial site with a backhoe. that testing found 28 of the bone fragments given to the family belonged to other people. at least three other people, including a child between the ages of 5 and

networks in the demos second week in a row. and adding insult to injury, cbs canceled the first new show of the tv season made in jersey about a jury the girl and arrogant -- they make it wasn't a good show. i looked at it for two seconds. good bye. we are a few days into earnings season. all eyes on two banks that will be reporting. big banks. sandra smith at the trade day. sandra: looking at the numbers here it is going to be interesting. set up ahead of the bank earnings tomorrow. as i show you numbers and the dow and s&p and nasdaq suffered a precipitous fall for the past several days. we have seen only a couple companies report -- most companies that have reported -- if you look at the big ones like alcoa, look at what they took after it kicked off earning season tuesday back below $9 a share. alcoa lowered its aluminum demand forecasts. this is a huge global company. commons reported lower its 2012 forecast. customers are putting off their purchases and reported mixed sales forecasts and that stock tumbling 2%. here you go. wells fargo, j. p. morgan reporting tomorrow and the numbers

. quinnepiac poll, "new york times/cbs news poll" finding governor romney gaining strength in colorado, virginia, and which is even though the president still hold as slight advantage in two of those states. shane deapril, editor of campaigns and election magazine. great to have you back with us. interesting to hear the calf yes yacht there. gains by governor romney but the president still slightly made. what do you make of these polls? >> jenna we talk about how presidential debates are rarely decisive. history has certainly shown that to be the case. what this latest set of numbers show they could really provide some momentum one way or the other. i don't think there is any doubt that mitt romney's solid performance in the first debate led to particularly the uptick in his favorability numbers you've seen in a couple of these polls. overall though, the top lynum members still, there's an advantage there for president obama. momentum certainly swinging mitt romney's way in a couple of these states. he has to keep that up particularly in virginia, ohio and florida. jenna: in "the wall

cbs news, "new york times" poll in colorado. mitt romney, 67% strong leadership qualities. barack obama 54%. let's go to virginia, 64% for mitt romney, 62% for barack obama. and paul in wisconsin 65% for mitt romney, 59% for barack obama. so clearly in those three battleground states they think romney has stronger leadership qualities than the president does. >> well, that's what comes from having a strong debate. but notice this was a gain for romney much more than a loss for president obama. i think that's really unusual about this last debate. romney helped himself, there's no doubt. he eroded the president's lead, but he didn't really erode the president's position. in other words, people still like the president, they support the president. if the election were held today, he'd still win. it would be a lot closer than a week or two ago. these internals do matter. and it's wise i think we're highlighting strong leader. look at things like cares about me, for the middle class. let's see if what president clinton was saying a minute ago starts to catch on. if people start to bel
